Raikeswood Camp was built in early 1915 as a training base for the Bradford Pals (16th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment) and was subsequently used by a number of other regiments, including the Leeds Bantams (17th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment) and the Black Watch regiment.
